The thing that’s most noticeable about this park is that it’s next to two schools. So there’s a whole bunch of hullabaloo, and I couldn’t tell if it was the general public or school-related. There were a lot of people hanging out and doing activities.

There are tennis courts, basketball courts, a soccer field, football field, track, and playground. The City of Portland website says most of it is public, so if you’re looking to do sports, this may be the park for you.

As a park goer that’s primarily interested in a quiet stroll, this was not my ideal park, but there were still some appealing features. There’s a nice paved stretch and lots of shady spots to sit down on a blanket.

It’s not a very long stroll, but if you have fifteen minutes to kill or are in NE and need a little nature refresh, this walk is great.

The playground looked solid.

A very special feature of this park is the Beverly Cleary sculpture garden. Beverly Cleary (of “Ramona the Brave” fame) was a long-time Portlander and this park features sculptures of her beloved characters. The sculptures are part of a fountain for cooling off.
Fun fact according to Wikipedia: “The majority of Cleary’s books are set in the Grant Park neighborhood of northeast Portland, Oregon, where she was raised, and she has been credited as one of the first authors of children’s literature to figure emotional realism in the narratives of her characters, often children in middle class families.”
Hm!
